tenth time!

This was the tenth time we have used the services of Slater Heelis in house moves. As always they were informative, helpful and efficient. Helen Young feels almost like a personal friend now, as did Jarlath Walsh before her.

Excellence in action

Helen has dealt with the sale of 2 properties recently. With her colleague Sharon, they provided great expertise and customer care.
Our Children's experience with purchases of their own has been so stressful due to the lack of action by their solicitors. So this was a refreshing change.

Outstanding support to buy London property

I hadn't realised how complicated buying a London property would be, particularly as many involve one or more property managing agents, deeds of covenants, shares in a freehold, or very old leaseholds. Helen Young was truly excellent. She helped me sell my Cheshire home, and buy a new London property, explaining the matters in a truly supportive, conscientiousness and caring way. I can't recommend Helen enough.

OUTSTANDING !!

We have had the pleasure of dealing with Slater Heelis for a number of years on various transactions.

Angela, Edward and Zara have all been outstanding in the way they have looked after our affairs keeping all their communication, professional, precise and clear and refreshingly were always available to talk through any queries we may have had.

Their knowledge and approachability made all our transactions completely stress free and the icing on the cake was their tremendous value for money. We would have no hesitation in recommending them.

My mother used Slater Heelis for her conveyancing. My family has been a long term client. However, we were badly let down this time.

The solicitor was hard to contact- always voicemail and automatic out of office replies saying it would take 2 days to respond to an email.

There was limited proactivity- always us having to chase and this culminated in the transaction exchanging and completing same day, which was very distressing for a 76 year old living alone.

On the day we were due to exchange, the solicitor took a day off and did not inform anyone (including his client), meaning we had to prepare to move out of the house without confirmation of exchange.

As the family, we escalated and complained to the top of the Organization and after a heated exchange with the head of conveyancing have received no further communication about the situation (other than the full price bill of course!).

This is the last time we will be using Slater Heelis after many decades. If you are too busy to support your clients, turn them away in the first place!

Initially Slater Heelis were very good in dealing with the conveyancing, the problems came with the completion. It didn't occur on the day it was supposed to, and I got the feeling the solicitors were moving heaven and earth to make it happen. The money went missing, and eventually turned up on the Monday after. Luckily we were not moving house so it meant we weren't stuck in limbo between houses.

The real grievance came afterwards, we were owed money in lost interest. After 2-3 weeks of ringing, and being told the money transfer would be made, we lost patience and threatened them with the ombudsman. The money arrived 2 hours later.

Maybe they were having a bad day, but I certainly won't be using them again.

Daniel did an excellent job with the purchase of our first home. He was a great advocate and well informed. He was able to give fast and reliable advice and was readily available to answer any concerns we had. He is the only solicitor that came recommended and he is the only person I would use for a house purchase going forward. Thank you Daniel.

Slater Heelis quoted around £800 for a neighbourhood dispute letter! He claimed they need to charge these sorts of fees to open a case and quipped we're not a forwarding service. The letter was in my grammar! Not exactly nuclear physics for Slater H!
Quickly got an SRA solicitor to do the job for £400, in Trafford, expeditiously.
