We purchased a house through Battens and we would highly recommend them. The only point that we found frustrating was the way correspondence is sent via email. Because there was so many emails being sent, sometimes things got lost or missed and we had to chase up. It would be helpful if emails could somehow be consolidated and a checklist made out of the things the emails contained so that issues are addressed in order and accounted for.

The normal transaction details were looked after without hitch. The micro detail requested by my buyers was also dealt with professionally.

This enabled us to get the deal done at the required speed, whilst being very thorough with the advice we received. Unfortunately, we felt we received very little value for the money spent. I put considerable time into setting out our case clearly and factually, point by point, in an effort to save time and costs and to ensure accuracy. However, this work was changed and errors were introduced. Correcting these issues became an ongoing and frustrating process, as we repeatedly had to ensure the facts were accurate. We did question the billing and received a small discount, but overall we were unhappy with the cost compared to what was ultimately produced, and I genuinely feel the outcome would have been the same had I responded myself.

Early in April 2024 We had buyers for our property in Chester and travelled down to Wareham to make an offer for a property we wanted. This was accepted so we went to Battens with all the necessary documentation explaining that we needed to complete by early July. We were told this would be possible. Six weeks later when we had assumed things were proceeding , we were contacted by Battens to be told we must start the whole procedure over again. Nothing had been done and we became very fearful that we would lose our purchasers. Sure enough, on July 3rd they pulled out. We were already selling our house at a loss for £395.000. It had cost us £415000. Months went by whilst we desperately sought buyers but eventually had to sell at £365.00. I blame Battens for this. We were never given reasons for the delay we experienced but I believe it was caused by using a part time solicitor who was never available when we needed advice. In the past 40 years we have bought and sold 9 properties in Wareham always using Humphries Kirk with no problems of any kind.I would not use Battens again.

Conducted our business with the minimum of fuss, efficiently and expeditiously, and within the predicted budget. A wholly professional organisation that I wouldn’t hesitate to use again or recommend to others.

I would like to thank Battens for their thoroughness , speed and friendly way they handled my house move which at one point looked like it could go pear shape. Mo Byers was my point of contact and got it across the finishing line delivering me my dream home . I have just used them again to purchase some land . I must explain , I am very impatient which makes me susceptible to missing key factors that could come back and bite me on the bum . Mo kept informed through out the whole process and protected my interests by making sure she got all the facts in and didn’t miss a thing . Thank you Ian Davey

I have been trying to communicate with these Solicitors on a number of occasions due to an on going issue since I purchased a property where the sellers were represented by this company. Terrible communication. Caused lots of upset and delays by not communicating their holiday the week I was meant to exchange. Recently I have had to contact them by email regarding an outstanding matter. They are just extremely rude and unhelpful. I appreciate their clients can be difficult and they may be busy but why ignore people and be rude. I would never engage with them if I didn’t feel I had to. It is so very sad that a Solicitor can behave this way. Update: to your reply. But is it really necessary to be rude. Your Client appears to run away behind you. My Solicitor’s are having to chase you too! To simple questions? So really there are no excuses if representing your Client it would be appreciated if you were professional, responsive and communicated honestly. Regards,
