Currently using LPL and I have more faith in the estate agents managing the process to communicate in a timely fashion. Over 3 months into the process from first instructing LPL and I still haven't ever had a phone call with our solicitor despite multiple requests. House selling and purchasing is a complex process (especially for folk that do it infrequently) and therefore only corresponding through email is not an effective approach in my opinion.

Wow, amazing solicitors.
VERONICA MISKELL we want to thank you for saving our mortgage offer.
We had been in the process of remortgaging for 5 MONTHS with BENNET AND OAKLEY solicitors and they delayed matter significantly! They tried charging us thousands of pounds for things we didn't need, and threatened additional fees when I spoke to my own lender! Due to their total disregard and lack of care our mortgage offer was due to expire soon after. Holding on to the only hope we had (as mortgage rates had increased so much, so we needed to secure the rate we received months earlier!)
we decided to try our luck with LPL and IT PAID OFF!
LPL / Veronica Miskell totally saved us! Kept us informed the whole way, was so quick and efficient in dealing with the situation. They were instructed on 24th July and completed just 4 weeks later! Well in time to avoid us stressing about our mortgage offer ending the following month! I can't praise them enough, and particularly Veronica!

The service was half decent at best. We were constantly having to chase our solicitor for information. Had no opening welcome call until I had emailed. Our solicitor gave us no notice that they would be on leave and that we would be dealing with a cover, this happened multiple times. Didn't communicate with cover to release our contracts to sign as they were received a few weeks before completion and after having to prompt LPL to check.
One particular cover supervisor, Sophie Darlington, was rude on the day of exchange and whilst dealing with us. Was told to not phone and leave an email, after I had already emailed 4 hours before. The chain almost collapsed due to the non-urgency on exchange.
I guess the only positive was that our original solicitor would be thorough once I could get a hold of them, and that the portal was okay to keep track of matters.
Would not recommend as a first-time buyer as things can be very confusing and no clarity was given unless pushed.
