Always responded quickly to my queries

I used Jeff at Curwens for Probate on my mother’s estate because he had written my mother’s Will. My mother was a ‘value for money, no frills’ person and this is exactly the service that Curwens offer. Jeff was knowledgeable, thorough and always quick to respond to questions and when I told a friend how much I was being charged, they were impressed by how cheap it was and it’s only now, that I understand why it was so cheap, because I was paying a fixed fee for Jeff and his team (who were also excellent) to ‘apply for probate ONLY’ which is exactly what they did and did it well.
However, in that initial consultation with Jeff, I was never made aware that there was WAY MORE to dealing with someone’s estate than just applying for probate and in all honesty, had I realised how much pain I was about to face over many months of trying to deal with, and unpick the exceedingly complicated finances that my mother had left me, then I most certainly would have employed Curwens to do the whole job (I wasn’t aware that was an option and I should have been made aware). Anybody facing the same situation that I did, please realise that financial institutions DO NOT want to deal with executors and they make life as difficult as possible, they obviously would deal with solicitors much more favourably. This is the route we are taking with my father’s affairs, even though it’s much less complicated and this allows me time to grieve, a luxury I had to do without for my mother.
I have no doubt that had Jeff and his team taken on the whole task then they would have made a fine job of it.

Fantastic Assistance with First House Purchase from Start to Finish

My partner and I were so happy with the service we received from Curwens. We were looked after by Kelly Sanniti and Christopher Thorpe who were fantastic and a pleasure to deal with.

With the pressure of the stamp duty deadline looming Kelly was incredibly timely and proactive in all of our communication with her and with helping to push the chain along on our behalf, constantly keeping us fully aware of the situation. Kelly ensured all parties were aware of the timelines at all times and was successful in completing our purchase before the deadline.

With it being our first house purchase we needed a lot of 'hand holding' and it was great to have someone who was not only very knowledgeable but also happy to explain the process to us and offer us clear advice along the way.

With some particularly difficult external parties in the chain Kelly constantly put our minds at ease, reassured us and it proved to be as smooth a process as we were ensured it would be.

I would definitely recommend Curwens for anyone in the process of a house purchase.

Excellent conveyancer

We've been dealing with Bradley Bernett for the purchase of our first apartment. He's been nothing short of outstanding in a very tight timeframe.

Bradley is incredibly responsive, knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable throughout the whole process.

We are incredibly grateful for their work and can only highly recommend them.

Haven’t called back & cant even spell name right

My grandparents had Wills written here 2 years ago. My grandfather died last week and we wanted to check whether he’d made any specific arrangements or left instructions about the funeral before we appointed funeral directors. My uncle rang them twice last week, no calls back. They kept saying someone would email him and he said well how can they, you don’t have my email address, you never took it?

I called this week on Monday, had 2 different people call me back questioning the spelling of my grandads surname as they couldn’t find his Will on their system. I spelt it out a number of times and read out details of the Will such as the date it was made and that they are listed as the executors etc. They made it sound like they were doubting that they even held a copy/were the executors even though I was reading out from a copy. The solicitor I spoke to was quite rude and also not once did anyone I speak to offer their condolences considering I’ve told them my grandad JUST died 5 days ago.
They had their surnames spelled wrong on their system. It was like a bad joke, how many people does it take to find a Will on their system. They found it and she said someone would call me back to discuss. No call back 2.5 days later again. Called this afternoon and told them this (no apology!), they had 2 hours open and STILL a no call back.
Good job we’re not waiting on them to start making arrangements now.
Don’t hold out much hope of them being swift and professional handling the Will. I haven’t even been able to speak to someone to find out what their fee to execute it will be. Might take it elsewhere.
You just don’t need this c**p when you’re dealing with a family death. I have better things to do all day than keep chasing them.

After seeing numerous other solicitors where I received no help even after paying for services, Adrian Boulter was efficient and very clear in his assessment of my situation and has really helped me to move forward with my case. He was extremely fair and no doubt I will be returning for further advice.

Great services and would recommend

Curwen's were professional and really easy to work with. I found the purchase of my first home very smooth and painless even through the recent lock-down measures.

Special thanks to Matthew Taylor who managed the purchase from Curwens.

I would definitely recommend their services.
