Shambolic and chaotic. They do not communicate and we would have lost our sale without the wonderful Carolyn Lowe in the Lancaster office who is their receptionist. They should be ashamed and embarrassed about the disorganised way they handled the decision to stop conveyancing, and their continuing appalling service.
Simpson Millar are the worst law firm in the UK. They have let hundreds if not thousands of clients down who were using their conveyancing department — please look at Trustpilot. Do not use this company — they are in breach of SRA code of conduct and do not have your best interests at heart.

This law firm failed to carry out work we instructed them to do on our behalf and of which they accepted payment - due to an incredibly short sighted decision by Greg the CEO to protect its clients from financial ruin myself and my partner now find ourselves on the verge of homelessness and we are now being completely blanked by the company! AVOID USING this company at all costs when there are far more competent alternatives around.

Trying to sell & buy a house through Simpson Millar, has been a nightmare. We have never been able to talk to our conveyancer - 3 weeks we have been waiting for a call back, and still nothing, after chasing daily. We have raised two complaints, both ignored. We are due to move in 2 weeks time, and still waiting to exchange. After a little research on the internet, it appears Simpson Millar are no longer doing Conveyancing, as of the 2nd Aug’22 - they have not informed us. We are now left with no idea if we will exchange contracts & move, or if we need to find a new conveyancer to finish the job, Simpson Millar aren’t going to - this will put us back weeks and cost us financially, as we try to move back dates of the move with our movers, and other services, let alone the impact to our buyer and vendor - disgusted by our treatment and the poor service. We have been promised today a call back within 4hrs from a partner, but yet again no call back. An awful experience and one that appears to be experienced by not only us.

What I can tell you is Alan Jolliffe is the solicitor I had dealing with my case, I would honestly recommend him to anyone. Speaking to him was more like taking to a friend. Please don’t misinterpret my words though, there has always bin a high level and respect and professionalism on his part. I wouldn’t advise anyone to get injured, but if you do I would definitely advise you who to get hold of.

I had a genuinely disappointing experience with Simpson Millar. After providing detailed information about my case and engaging with their enquiries team, my case was abruptly closed without any proper explanation or assessment. I then received a generic email stating they “didn’t want to disturb me” and had therefore decided to close my enquiry. This made no sense — I had not asked them to stop contacting me, nor had I disengaged. In fact, I was actively waiting for an update. I responded immediately to challenge this and asked for clarification, but no meaningful explanation was provided. There was no attempt to review the case, no feedback, and no transparency about why it was dropped. This raises serious concerns about their internal process: -Cases appear to be closed arbitrarily without client consent -There is no clear communication or accountability -Enquiries are not properly assessed despite clients taking time to submit details For a firm that promotes professionalism and client care, this experience was the opposite. It felt like my case was simply discarded without consideration. If this is how initial enquiries are handled, it does not give confidence in how they would manage a live case where communication and diligence are critical. Very disappointing.
I have been using SM for a medical negligence case , it’s been a revolving door of people handling my case , i have really lost count now who is managing it. They have been so slow to move to case along , even when they agreed with experts that the case was sound months and months went by without really doing anything , so much so we almost ran out of time .

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Simpson Millar Solicitors. After four years, my case was ultimately dismissed due to a lack of evidence and poor-quality specialist reports. This outcome was incredibly frustrating given the amount of time invested. Throughout the entire four-year period, I was constantly chasing for updates and progress. Communication was very poor, and there was no sense of continuity — I had approximately 12–13 different case handlers, which made the process chaotic and disorganised. The handling of my case caused me a great deal of unnecessary stress and anxiety. I never felt properly supported or informed, and the service fell well below what I would expect from a professional legal firm. Due to the unacceptable level of service, I am now referring Simpson Millar to the Legal Ombudsman. I would not recommend this firm to anyone seeking reliable, competent legal representation.

Avoid this solicitors. Unfairly dismissed and won our tribunal. Simpson Millar advice was to accept £20,000 based on no calculations of loss , messed up my ET1 form to the tribunal, missed out disability discrimination. We were offered £50,000 before the tribunal. We proved our overtime losses for 18 months was worth £20,000 . Simpson Millar could have and have cost us thousands of pounds.Won unfair dismissal with a different solicitor. Only writing the review to allow others to make a informed decision. Solicitor could not give us the calculation they based there very low figure on , just wanted to settle as quickly as possible.
