I was recommended Cook and Talbot by my mortgage adviser as I am a first time buyer. I was nervous as heard so many scary stories about solicitors being difficult to work with.

Amanda was allocated to my case, throughout my whole experience I couldn't say a bad word. She was brilliant.

We had issues on completion day which she sorted as soon as I sent the email she had contacted myself, other solicitors and the estate agent. She continued to communicate even out of hours to make sure it was sorted.

Estate agent contacted me to ask me where I found my solicitor as they have never come across a solicitor with such brilliant communication! They phrased Amanda and couldn’t believe how professional and approachable she is.

Everyone in the firm has been great and approachable even when Amanda has been on leave, I have always had a point of contact throughout.

I would 1000% use them in the future and I couldn't recommend enough!

Chloe & Amanda were absolutely amazing from start to completion in the first home purchase. They make the process quick and smooth. The thing I like the most was the app which was great for keeping us up to date with the progress but also how fast was responsive to emails. Highly recommending Cook & Talbot !

One star is too generous, they were totally inept did not return phone calls or emails. Transferred money to us that they were supposed to keep hold of then we had to jump through hoops and pay charges to transfer it back. On completion day the contracts hadn’t even been sent to the seller, there was no urgency in their service whatsoever even though they knew we had been in temporary accommodation for 8 weeks due to a probate problem. Then to cap it all 7 months after completion they decide they owe us £200 but actually only transfer £140

Would not recommend. They made a mistake on the purchase of my property which they did not rectify and ended up costing me a lot of money to resolve the problem myself!
They took forever to respond or sometimes didn’t respond back.

Avoid this solicitors at all costs! I never complain or leave negative reviews, but I am disgusted with the situation they have left us in, and the way they have, and are handling the situation now. We purchased our property in October 2020, contacts were signed and we moved straight into our new home. Last month (April 2021) I applied for a remortgage and found that my name is not on the property deeds and instead it was the previous owners name. This now means we can not apply for a remortgage, sell the property, lend money on the strength of the property despite me being a cash buyer and buying the property outright. The House has faulty electrics and no central heating which is not ideal to say the least, especially with three children, one being under 2 years old. I have contacted them numerous times (Chloe, Amanda and now Chris) and all have failed to provide me with any sort of update on how they intend to resolve the situation. I have asked how to complain internally as this needs to be done before I can report them to the Legal ombudsman and still no response. Please avoid at all costs!

The solicitor handling my conveyancing (Charles Lawrence) left without finishing or any warning... Just before I was due to exchange contracts. 2 weeks later, (and 5 months into the process of what should have been a straight forward transaction) I'm still waiting for anyone to let me know a potential timeline for exchange and completion. Really poor communication. Shocking behaviour of someone jumping boat with no proper handover, disregarding the welfare of his clients.
