Excellent Conveyancing Service

Marie, Yvonne, Adam and Helen in your Pontypridd office were all excellent. They dealt with our house purchase very efficiently and professionally. Any queries raised were promptly replied to and they made them easy to understand. As first time buyers they made the process as stress free as possible and we felt they were always available if we had any questions or concerns. We would highly recommend Marie and her team and will use their services again in future if needed.

Would give 0 stars if able to

Limited contact from them unless I contacted them myself. Took months to contact bank about mortgage queries whereas as soon as I told my mortgage advisor about the situation he sorted it out within hours.
They made the most exciting time of my life (buying my own house) the most stressful 5 months of my life to the point several times I nearly pulled out of buying the property as they were so rubbish. It felt as though they had too many clients and couldn't give enough attention to any of them.

Marie Lewis - Spicketts Batrick Pontypridd

I have just worked with Marie Lewis from Spicketts in Pontypridd to complete the sale of my first home. Marie gave me outstanding customer care, always going over and above to answer any worries that I might have and to ease my anxieties of becoming a first time home owner. Marie was behind me every step of the way, fighting my corner and making sure that procedures were carried out effectively. I am very grateful.

Worst of the worst - lost house because of them

our estate agent chancellors recommend them and sold it to use as great service.

oh, they saw us coming. Spicketts Battrick Law Practice is based in Wales and most of their work comes from paying estate agents to recommend them and they do not give two monkeys about you.

We never had a phone conversation with the person dealing with our case. We send an email and they would take days sometimes weeks to respond. our buyer was waiting 4 months for a response. our buyer pulled out because it was taking too long and we lost our dream home, a week later house prices rose to 2 years high.

We now found a local solicitor who has a turnaround of responding the same day either by email or phone.

Spicketts Battrick Law Practice needs a change of leadership and to put customers first

From my experiences, I DO NOT Recommend this firm

The only reason I used them was that the estate agent I was using had an arrangement with them for a fixed price service.

I haven't had a worse experience in my life with a solicitor. I CAN NOT recommend these solicitors

My experiences seem to be pretty much the same if not worse that Juliet who has given another review here on this site.

My recommendation is to use someone/ANYONE else

House sale

Melissa James is absolutely the best. She made the whole process of selling my house so easy. Even though we experienced some bumps in the road she was so reassuring and communicated really well.

Not recommended

It was a complete disaster from the start. They only sent the contract to sign a day before we were supposed to exchange contracts. Same with ID checks. They refused to carry out basic checks and to provide confirmation to the buyer solicitors that we were the legitimate owners. This caused great concern to the buyer's solicitors. They refused to change a misspelled name on the tittle, so we had to pay different solicitors to do this. They refused to remove a LL Form from the tittle, so again we paid other solicitors to do this. The buyer solicitors and the state agents were left completely astonished about their poor level of service and they refusal to provide assurances that they had carried out simple duty of care checks on us (their clients which they were representing!!) We never got to communicate with the actual solicitor appointed to the case, only with the legal assistant, she was very responsive, but at times it seemed like she was totally avoiding what the other part solicitors were requesting of them. There were extremely rude exchanges with both state agents and the other part solicitors. The amount of stress we went through because of their poor standards of service can not be expressed with words. We would have changed solicitors at several stages but that would have delayed things even more, so we had to stick with them. Completion did happen finally, but honestly, these people should not be in business. I'm not a person inclined to make complaints, but we just couldn't believe how this company behaved.

A HUGE THANK YOU!

A big thank you to Karen Moses and her team at Spicketts Battrick Law Practice in Clifton St, especially Antonia and Uti, they have always been there for me from start to finished, encouraging me and feeling my pain when my buyers pulled out at the last minute of exchanging contact, they were there all through my stressful journey from Bristol to Oldbury West Midlands, as our estate agent Haart in White Ladies Road Clifton Bristol couldn’t be bothered, from start to finish they wasn’t interested they were no where to be found, all they were interested in was their £4300 for doing absolutely nothing, without the team helping me from start to finish I would’ve have being lost, but now I’ve moved in my new home and is settling down, again a big thank you, to Karen Moses and her team, you lot were phenomenal.

My estate agent kept me informed , Spickets didn't

I purchased my house through them - cash ,this went quickly (house was empty) so I thought I'd sell and purchase another with them ,this was a disaster ,why did it take so long ? ( four and half months) I was never informed .Settled my account ,then they ask for more, £100 plus thought it was fixed fee? and they had sent final statement so I thought . I was told I would be informed when house was registered to me on land registry ? of course they did not inform ,I had to "chase" this.
I was referred by agent I purchased first house through.
I must admit when I emailed I got a quick reply (still waiting to hear about extra payment though - no reply - months ,I don't want the trouble of it all) Just think I should have be kept informed not having to "chase " after information etc .

Awful Person

I very rarely complain, however this person was truly awful to deal with and tactless when dealing with somebody grieving. The solicitors were holding my late mother's will. This solicitor refused for over a month to look for it, telling me several times that they didn't have it. Subsequently delaying the probate process for me. They did eventually find it but not before Ms Jones said to me "maybe your mother tore up the original will and left all her money to a cats home". Shocking. Avoid.
