Worst service I have ever encountered from any company in any industry.
Unfortunately, we had an extremely disappointing experience with Everys Taunton. After reading the 5 star reviews, we thought we would be in safe hands for our first time house purchase. We couldn't have been more wrong.
It started fairly well, ID checks could be done online, saving us from travelling into their branch and they seemed to be communicative.
From that point on, it became a nightmare. Our conveyancer provided us no guidance, no detail and extremely vague communication. Considering we had never done this before, it would have been great to have regular updates on where we stand. She was purposefully being vague and uncommunicative, which with their high fees, isn't acceptable.
We got through the property searches fairly quickly, and with no onward chain on the property, we thought we would be at the point of exchange. After days of waiting and waiting, it became clear there was a problem. Our conveyancer has missed some enquiries, and as such had to ask the sellers solicitors additional enquiries.
We had no problem with this and respected their detailed approach to make sure we wouldn't run into future problems. Unfortunately however, this is where the communication completely broke down. Our conveyancer was ignoring us, and it was clear something had gone wrong.
Our conveyancer could not get her head around some very basic answers from the sellers solicitors, instead sending back the same questions multiple times. The other side were at a dead end, as there is only so many times you can answer the the same question in the same way.
She came across as being woefully inexperienced and worst of all, she wouldn't communicate any of this with us, so we were left for weeks in limbo, having no idea what was happening.
Their conveyancer lists on their website that "She understands that matters involving property are particularly stressful and likes to communicate with clients via both email and telephone to keep them as up-to-date as possible on what is happening to try and alleviate this stress"
That couldn't be further from the truth. She will have no problem fobbing you off to her assistants, promising responses that you'll never get and clearly afraid to pick up the phone. We were put under extreme levels of stress and anxiety in this period.
We raised multiple complaints, but were never offered an apology or explanation.
I am not one to write reviews, however this experience was so bad, that I needed to make sure others are aware of the unprofessional and inexperienced nature of the company.
