I decided to study law at University in 2008, after an impulsive decision based around a need for justice and helping people. After a rollercoaster of a journey which included graduating from Queen Mary, University of London with an LLB and shortly after an LLM in Medical Law; stints in a number of different roles including recruitment, customer service, sales and marketing; moving from London to York; and then back to London to train and qualify at Central London firm, Saracens Solicitors. My desire to help people translated into my chosen areas of practice: litigation and personal injury. On qualification, I specialised in trusts and probate disputes, defamation, employment disputes and personal injury. I also continue to work in all areas of litigation, including commercial and property matters. I like to use an empathic approach to my work, supporting my clients as well as cooperating with opponents to ensure matters are resolved in the most cost-effective way possible. I am fascinated by rules and procedure and so will leave no stone unturned to find the best result for my client. I have always had a keen interest in public speaking, and during my experience in litigation,I became very interested in advocacy and representing clients at court. As a trainee solicitor, I appeared before Deputy District and District Judges to obtain orders for my clients. I then went on to complete my Higher Rights of Audience assessments whilst still a trainee solicitor which allowed me to be in the rare position of receiving my Higher Rights of Audience accreditation as soon as I qualified. I have since represented clients in County Courts and the High Court.

About Sonay Erten

After struggling to find a solicitor willing to give us advice, and for a reasonable cost, we were so pleased to find Sonay Erten at Legal Studio. Sonay was exactly what we were looking for - knowledgeable, patient and kind - a refreshing change from solicitors we have used in the past. We felt she had really put effort into reading our papers and researching to find answers to our questions. During our call with her, she came across as extremely well-organised, with a list of answers to all the many questions we had asked. She showed a great deal of empathy for our situation and explained things in language that was easy to understand (rather than the usual "solicitor" talk, which can be intimidating). She's a shining example of what a solicitor should aspire to be and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to others or use her again in the future.
