Very unpleasant experience
Andrew Murfin was engaged to help with the sale of some farmland.
He was the most frustrating and unhelpful solicitor I have ever dealt with.
The in house complaints process, dealt with by Peter Davies, is a complete farce.

THINK TWICE BEFORE ENGAGING
I am very dissatisfied with the service received from the property department at Davey Law.
I am disatisfied with as follows...
1) the initial advice i was given (which i was required to get a 2nd opinion on and which I did not follow)
2) the way my case was drawn out when i believe it could have been settled much more quickly incurring lower fees.
3) above all i am unhappy with the fees that escalated from an initial quote of £550 to over £8000.
Part of these legal fees were covered by the other party as they accepted that the property had been misdescribed - but they refused to pay all the legal fees as they thought them unreasonably high which in truth they were. It now turns out that Mr Murfin requested a significantly higher fee award (£6200) from the other party than the fees which i had incurrred to that point.
I am also hugely disatisfied with the in-house complaints procedure. My concerns are legitimate and have not been adequately addressed. The complaints procedure report by Peter Davies included various inaccuracies and what can at best be described as "misremembering" the facts. There is sufficient hard evidence to refer this matter to the legal ombusdman for redress - which i habe now done and and i have every confidence in being vindicated.

Atrocious
My business partner instructed Davey law for x2 house purchases in x2 separate limited company - 2 complete separate transactions.
One of the properties fell through and the 10% deposit refund was due.
The cost have been settled however Andrew Murfin, solicitor will not return this money to the company account as he is holding it as security for the complete separate transaction with the other company despite no instruction to do so and several requests to return it. This is outrageous appalling practice
Overall service is awful and I strongly advise to avoid at all cost
- poor communication
- lack of professional integrity
- lack of knowledge
- poor responsiveness
- overcharging
- wrongly withholding money
I will be informing the Law Society
