Sally was raised in Sheffield and studied law at Bristol University before undertaking her LPC in Nottingham. She returned to Sheffield to complete her training contract and thereafter relocated to the East Midlands. Sally qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and had a mixed family law case load until 2007. Since 2007, Sally has specialised in all aspects of children matters, whether it be private matters concerning where children live and who they have contact with, or public matters when Social Services are involved. Sally’s cases can involve issues such as domestic abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, physical and sexual abuse, mental health issues, and there can also be international elements to her cases. Sally regularly represents children (directly or through their Children’s Guardian), parents and other family members in public and private children proceedings. Her cases span involvement with social services who may be seeking a care order or supervision order, Special Guardianship Orders, abduction, deprivation of liberty (DOLs), orders under the inherent jurisdiction of the court, adoption, and private law applications regulating who a child lives with or spends time with (child arrangements orders), prohibited steps orders, specific issue orders, and parental responsibility. Sally is conscientious, professional and thorough in her work, and recognises that those seeking her help are experiencing very sensitive and emotional times. She is down to earth and approachable, and always tries to take a sensitive yet realistic approach when giving advice. Sally is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Children Accreditation scheme (previously known as the Children’s Panel) and has been so since 2010. This accreditation recognises her expertise in this specialist area and means that she can represent children within court proceedings. Sally is proud to have been recognised as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 (family, East Midlands) in 2020,2021,2022,2023 and 2024. Sally is happy to accept both privately paying and legally aided work. Outside of work Sally enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and keeping up with the interests of her teenage son.
