Susan Janet Bowler
Solicitor - Partner - Head of Catastrophic Injury
SRA ID: 16743
I’m committed to securing justice for seriously injured clients, whether those injuries arise as a result of an accident or medical negligence, and to supporting vulnerable and disabled people throughout their lives. I specialise in pursuing personal injury and clinical negligence claims for clients who have suffered life changing and life limiting injuries and disabilities, often as a result of a severe brain injury. I am regularly also appointed Professional Deputy through the Court of Protection for the rest of clients’ lives, which means that I manage the property and financial affairs of clients who lack capacity to do so themselves. Obtaining a good award of compensation is often only part of the service that clients need. It is often possible for me to be instrumental in putting a regime of rehabilitation in place to assist an injured person’s recovery and provide the greatest possible chance of regaining the quality of life they may feel they have lost. This includes establishing care and therapy packages and arranging the building of disability adapted housing. Becoming Professional Deputy means that I continue to assist clients with whom I have built a close and trusting relationship throughout the process of pursuing a claim, and that I can continue to be their first point of contact at times of need, assisted by a team of Court of Protection lawyers. I have also been appointed to the Court of Protection’s panel of approved Deputies which means that the Court itself refers cases to me where an existing Deputy or Attorney needs to be replaced. I am one of only a handful of Panel Deputies in the South of England.
