James is a Trainee Solicitor at Price & Kelway, currently working within the Private Client Department. He advises on a broad range of matters, including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, inheritance tax, probate and trusts. James also has experience in commercial property and corporate work, having previously completed a seat in the firm's Commercial Department. In recognition of his achievements and contribution to the profession, James was awarded the Silver Award for Trainee Solicitor of the Year at the Welsh Law Awards 2026. James brings a highly analytical approach to legal practice, having achieved a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematics and Physics from The Open University. Originally from Haverfordwest, James attended Pembrokeshire College, where he achieved outstanding A-Level results, obtaining A* grades in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and an A grade in Further Mathematics. Before pursuing a legal career and while studying for his degree, James successfully ran his own company. During this time, he regularly encountered legal issues and concepts that sparked his interest in the law and ultimately motivated him to qualify as a solicitor. As part of his route to qualification, James has completed both stages of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and is currently completing the remainder of his Qualifying Work Experience. He achieved the highest possible grade in SQE1, which assesses core legal knowledge, at a sitting with an overall candidate success rate of just 41%. He then sat SQE2, the practical skills-based stage of the qualification, just three weeks into his training and passed comfortably, achieving a perfect score in his Dispute Resolution legal drafting assessment. Outside of work, James is an accomplished musician, having attained Grade 8 Piano and a diploma in Cello Performance. He enjoys keeping fit and spending his free time on the pickleball court.
