Terrifyingly appalling
I have never - in 40 years of buying and selling property known a ‘service’ like this. I was pursued for my business at the start of the process which I found desperate and unattractive.
The solicitor forgot to tell the other party I had agreed the completion date in a simple cash sale. Delay of 9 days. All documents for the purchase were submitted 14 days before completion - no confirmation of receipt, no word. At the last minute, the solicitor couldn’t read the bank statement to see the name, or understand debit and credits; didn’t understand the difference between a forwarded email and an attachment.
Wrote back to me with my own text in the reply at 11.30pm. Insisted that my payment to the firm showed the firm’s name as the payee (I was speechless) which meant a personal email from RBS to the firm to confirm this. The solicitor still couldn’t see it so 3 emails later and with great discipline or my part to avoid bitter sarcasm, the solicitor managed to spot the firm’s name. I then realised I was doing all the work.
Didn’t respond to queries I’d raised about the purchase. 4 hours before completion, I had a desperate all from the other agent to say the completion documents hadn’t arrived and I was told by my ‘expert’ they were in hand.
That afternoon. I was sent the wrong bill for land tax but I paid it to finish the purchase. 15 minutes before close of business I was rung to say all was done and I could pick up the keys. Thepho e was slammed down without thanking me for my business.
Today talking to other local agents, I was told this individual is known for appalling service.
Please avoid at your peril. I received a refund for my tax but that was my right anyway. It is unbelievable that a customer has to be treated like this.
