Very Expensive, Very Slow
Back in May 2021 I agreed to sell a one acre plot of land to a school. Despite both parties agreeing to terms and the price, conveyancers at Bates Wells have drawn out the process to such an extent, 3 years later we STILL have not transferred the land. Despite not completing this transaction they have found time to send me bills in the region of 10k SO FAR.
This period has of course encompassed a period of high inflation so that my agreed price has withered considerably.
Not only that, they have charged my charity, which has 200k in funds 40k for nebulous tasks for which they have not sent me a breakdown.
You have to wonder at the moral probity of an organisation that seeks to exploit charities in this way. This is money that was earmarked for animal welfare programmes in Europe but now it is lining the pockets of corporate apparatchiks!
I have proposed Bates Wells to the Guinness Book of Records as not only are they the worlds slowest conveyancers, they must surely be the most expensive. Surely a world record!
