Delighted 1st time but hugely disappointed 2nd time
I used Comptons for all our three transactions in 2022 and were delighted with the service offered by Daniel Gower and his paralegal Philip Hitchcox. For this reason, I went back to this law firm to help me and my partner with our wills and lasting powers of attorney, as well as those of my sister.
It all started on the wrong foot with draft documents bearing our old address, followed by a misspelled surname, no instruction given about the dating of the LPAs, misspelled address, omissions, etc. and even my sister’s date of birth not properly recorded, and incorrect information of her beneficiaries. They even omitted to send my sister her draft will. The solicitor dealing with us even attempted to use me as a third person liaising with my sister for him, but I pointed out to him that my sister was his client and he had the responsibility to talk to her directly and not through me. We still don’t know if our LPAs have been submitted for registration and are waiting to hear from them so we can settle our fee for this work. It has been such a bad experience it isn’t true.
I emailed the managing partner to let him know of our bad experience, hoping he would to something to help but it has been 3 weeks now and I haven’t heard from him.
We all just wish to finish the business with them ASAP.
