I had a long relocation Case that was complicated in every way. I was recommended Dawson Cornwell LLP. This team was amazing. I mainly dealt with Forum and Sacha. Also had some dealings with Grace, Maria, and Jemma. Everyone that I had contact with was incredibly professional, polite and courteous in everyway. Sacha and Forum handled everything swiftly and they addressed every concern I had. They were efficient and knowledgeable in all aspects of the case. I have no negative experiences with this team to report. They were wonderful. It gave me great ease. The most stressful time of my life was handled with such professionalism and care. We chose Dawson Cornwell as we wanted to work with a particularly excellent solicitor who had helped us before 10 years ago with setting up a Special Guardianship Order.

Not only was the solicitor excellent again but the support we received from the firm was also of the highest standard.

We had been taken to court by a Local authority/Social Care who wanted to change the Section 20 we had signed into a full care order. At first we wanted the help of the firm to make sure our middle boy got the education he was asking for and demonstrably needed - a residential school. But the LA / SC fought tooth and nail against that on financial grounds.

Our solicitor arranged for great expert witnesses to carry out assessments which confirmed our suspicions that our boy was autistic (and PDA/EDA) - which the LA / SC at first denied as a possibility but were now forced to face. The LA / SC still refused to find or fund an appropriate school. Our solicitor repeatedly highlighted the LA's inconsistency and believed that we had our boys best interests at heart. Dawson Cornwell stuck with us and by us and won over all the other parties - including the other respondents and the judge - and then after almost two years the LA / SC.

The Judge ruled that the LA did not need a full care order and that a Section 20 would be sufficient and all parties agreed the care plan which included a fantastic boarding school which has a specialism in helping autistic young people. It genuinely is our boy's best chance at a decent outcome after lots of disasters educationally.

Without Dawson Cornwell we would have never won this victory - which we hope will stand as another beacon for parents of all kinds fighting for fair treatment for their young people in all their diversity. Amy Rowe was all sweet talking at first, saying she understands my case and how I wish to proceed and confirmed she would support me in the way I wanted to go forward, up until legal aid was approved. From there onwards followed frankly unbelievable treatment. First they changed the junior solicitor who was supposed to support me and allocated Michael (Mike) Terry, who was more sympathetic for the abuser applicant and he was not afraid to say it. Both Amy and Mike were guilt tripping me about the fact that I have legal aid, only to charge the agency with excess of 5000 pounds for the substandard effort and work they put in. They were trying really hard to change my statement/ the truth/ so they can make they work easy; saying I would have my child given residency with applicant (whom he doesn't know and lives in a different country) if I do not change my statement. Sabotaging my evidence, trying to remove most important ones eg. the applicant writing to me to say he agrees to donate/ that he is a donor. Making discriminatory remarks about the way I have said things (mocking me for not being a native english speaker basically) Not letting me have my mother with me in an online call. Lying to me that I have a live with order so I can travel when I didn't have one. Not responding to emails and calls and not doing their work in face of looming submission deadlines. I have put in formal complaints and the response was even more unprofessional. I luckily already had legal advice and have solicitor and barrister friends to reassure me that this is not acceptable and have of course changed solicitors. I was thinking to let it go but at least I can do an honest review and hopefully warn any potential legal aid clients to keep well away from this firm.

I would like to thank Kelly Harwood for her support during my son's custody court. The work that she and her entire team have done has been impeccable, including the barrister that was assigned to me in each court is truly valuable and above all the kindness and patience they had with me, always with words of support with a lot of respect and affection, something I have never going to forget .The court, thank , concluded that my son lives with me and that is what I always asked for always , one more time thank you very much for your support and your excellent work.
