I would not recommend RHJ Devonshire Solicitors under any circumstances. I was onboard as a client 19 September (42 days ago) and there is little to no evidence that Monique Ramsey has done any work on completing my flat purchase. To this day I still do not have an estimated date of completion. She ignored the seller’s multiple emails asking to confirm that I was her client so no paperwork had been exchanged until 15 October when they reached out to me directly to confirm that she was in fact my solicitor. On the 15th she forwarded the contract that she received from them and it was evident that she had not spoken to them and had not opened the contract herself as the name on the contract was incorrect. I flagged this with her multiple times and she ignored me so I had to reach out to the seller myself.

I have had to email and call repeatedly and have gotten little to no response. Half the time when you call the office you cannot get through to a person or leave a message. She blamed the other solicitor for not sending any documents when in reality she had most if not all of the documents she was waiting for. I had to ask the other solicitor to call her as she was not following up with them as she had told me.

Monique is managing my purchase but I wouldn’t recommend working with anyone else from the firm either. I lodged a formal complain against Monique on 24 October. My contract said to send the complaint to Monique which I did but since it was about her, it was given to Caroline King-Gadekah and Karen Nichols to “review and respond accordingly”. Neither Caroline nor Karen has reached out to me. It’s ironic that they dealt with a complaint about poor communication with no communication.

Processed the sale well and worked above and beyond when there were difficulties with the vendors. Would recommend.

I was selling and buying at same time so looking for an efficient and diligent solicitors who can handle both the sale and purchase of the properties. The completion process was very smooth and completion day was not stressful at all . Though, due to various stakeholders it has been bumpy ride for us but Monique always had our back which was quite reassuring. It was such a pleasant experience where we could directly talk to Monique over phone whenever we wanted and she always had a genuine advise/suggestions. Her guidance through out the process and calm & patient approach was invaluable. I would recommend RHJ DEVONSHIRE and specifically Monique for conveyancing requirements.

We were first time buyers buying a leasehold flat in London. Our solicitor was Nneoma who overall did a great job, delivered to all the agreed timelines, acted professionally and showed competence. At times we had to wait multiple days and keep chasing on the phone for replies to our queries but when it really mattered the turnaround was extremely quick. Nneoma did a brilliant job promptly getting back to our LISA provider, sorting out all the required insurance policies and dealing with unprofressional solicitors at the other end. However, the whole process could have definitely gone smoother. For example, despite them assuring us that they were on our lender's solicitor board, it turned out that they had been temporarily taken off of it which took a few weeks to sort out and resulted in a long delay for getting the solicitor's copy of the mortgage offer. A lot of the delays and hold ups weren't in the solicitor's hands but more proactive communication with the lender and vendor's solicitors could have potentially spared us a lot of stress. The final financial statement that included all the fees and disbursements was quite close to the orginial quote, however, there were a few small additional fees that were reasonably foreseeable and could have been included upfront in my opinion. The 4 stars represent our experience, however, I think the firm is definitely capable of delivering a 5 star service and we just didn't get very lucky with the circumstances. However, I can't complain much since the amount of work that solicitors do is probably an order of magnitude bigger than mortgage brokers, estate agents and management companies combined even though they get paid roughly the same. All in all, I'm glad that we chose RHJ Devonshire for our first home purchase and I think that they provided really good value for money.
