I had an extremely complex asylum case, which had previously been mishandled by another firm through legal aid. My asylum claim was refused by the Home Office, and my previous legal representatives failed to notify me, causing my right to appeal to expire. As a result, I lost my right to work and study, leaving me in a devastating situation.
Through a recommendation from the legal team and Law School at the University of Exeter, I contacted Wilson Solicitors LLP, and it was the best decision I could have made. Shayne Brown took over my case as my solicitor, and Gilda Kiai represented me as my barrister. From the very start, they provided clear, prompt, and professional legal guidance, working efficiently with no delays, excellent communication, and complete transparency. They promptly responded to all emails, calls, and video meetings, ensuring I was fully informed at every stage.
Their first victory was securing my right to appeal, despite the deadline having passed, and successfully reinstating my right to work and study. From there, we proceeded to my asylum appeal, and thanks to their extraordinary legal work, the judge granted me refugee status on the first go, at the First-tier Tribunal.
I am now protected, safe, and thriving, and I owe this entirely to the exceptional work of Wilson Solicitors LLP, Shayne Brown, and Gilda Kiai. Thanks to this Solicitors, I don't know yet for almost two years the whereabouts of my children. Their handling of my family case was Awful at the best, but their carelessness leans towards criminal to say the least.
They neglected my case for six months or so, after judges decision to allow my ex to take my children abroad. By doing so they gave my ex time to move to anywhere she wanted, but not on the specific county she was allowed to.
After a hearing the judge say he will decide in 2-3 weeks. When the date come, I kept calling them (Beatrice H), she kept say that they haven't heard anything from the courts. Is was strange to me, but she kept reassuring me that courts sometimes have the power to take more time and all we could do was just wait, simple no! in the coming days and weeks, I couldn't speak to Beatrice H, the switch board will say that she was in annual leave or busy day in court, and she would come back to me. ( not always happened.) In few occasions I was granted the privilege to speak to her. She would day that, they couldn't force the courts to make a decision.
In November-December 2023, I recivied the closing case invoice of £18,00. That was when every thing, the messy job they done come to light.
Alarmed and worried, I called them, I was lucky to be able to speak to Beatrice in this occasion, she was "shocked" She had no answers, but she tried to blame the barristers chamber (different company). When I said to her that I never had to deal with he barristers chamber in the past under any circumstance but everything was done trough Wilsons, then she promised me that she would find out what had happen and call me back in couple of days, what do you thing did it happen? guess.
After that I contacted few of the directors, and I was contacted by one of them called: Ayșen S. She was very kind on offering me and apology, and trying to buy my children's pain and suffer and emotional damage, and to myself for £500. and after that pretty much they disappeared.
Needlessly to list here the health damage this Solicitors have caused.

They seemed very professional in the beginning but they turned out being very lazy and careless. When my case was too much for them to deal with, I felt that all they wanted was to get rid of my Legal Aid case, so they could focus on their priority ones. My case was a very sensitive one, involving child abuse and a local Portuguese police made a very bias report on the investigation of my son. My request for the translation of the Portuguese bundle in the proceedings with the Portuguese police was ignored and it directly affected one of my main arguments for my case. The barrister arranged for me also made it clear from the beginning that she was not listening to me and her role in my case was the same was nothing.

SAVED BY SOLICITOR MALA SAVJANI.....I spent 45 days stranded and sleeping rough in an international airport after being denied the right to fly home following a six-day holiday. As an EU citizen living in the UK since the early '90s, this was a devastating ordeal.
