Having used Clowes & Co since 2018 where I was always represented by the same specialist commercial property solicitor. The service provided was always to a high standard and I never encountered any issues during this time.
In December 2023 Clowes & Co were appointed to complete the legals on a commercial lease. Unfortunately for me with no consultation with myself this work was passed over to the senior partner. A less able non commercial property solicitor.
I have appointed a worked with solicitors for 25 years and this was the first time I received no introduction call and had no conversation to discuss the case in hand where any points could be raised & addressed.
My concerns were raised early on in the process with the senior partner and again as a complaint at the end.
In July 2024 court action was taken against Clowes & Co. In October the judge found in my favour and in November Clowes & Co paid the judgement debt and refunded my fees paid, costs and interest.
As for a client having to take their solicitor to court to recoup their fees and winning his case speaks volumes and I cannot recommend this firm.

It is clear from your comments that you valued the service you received from our firm in previous years, and I am sorry that this matter has caused such disappointment. Regarding your concerns about the allocation of your case, I acknowledge that you were accustomed to working with a specific solicitor, and I apologise if the transition to another member of the team was not communicated to you in a way that met your expectations. I am also sorry that you felt a lack of communication and opportunity to discuss the matter at the outset. Open and clear communication is something we strive for. The court's decision and subsequent settlement are matters we have taken seriously, and we are committed to reviewing and learning from this case to ensure we address any shortcomings in our processes and approach. I acknowledge the dissatisfaction expressed in your comments and your ratings. While I respectfully disagree with your characterisation of our firm, I fully accept that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. We remain committed to improving our services and learning from client feedback to ensure better outcomes in the future.

There is simply not enough room to put into full context the experience we have had with Clowes and Co. The communication is not clear, not in good time, not regular to say the least, the review does not let me use negative language, which is fitting for a company who clearly does not care about the best interests of their clients. Who would rather send back and forth emails arguing with clients and third parties than taking accountability for their own lack lustre approach to their practices. Un-professional is a light way of putting my honest feelings about Clowes and Co. Whom I still await a phone call from the owner to speak about my concerns and complaint, it is clear to see why the people beneath her are also rude and argumentative. If you need a conveyancer who will do the job you expect them to do, don't bother.

Professional, helpful and efficient. I would use this firm again without hesitation as we have been very happy with the service. Completed a sale in 7 weeks ( probably would have been 6 weeks if the buyers solicitors would not have dragged their feet with the enquiries ). Emma Lanza and her team ( Sona and Danielle) kept us informed all the time, especially the last week was key to complete on time. Thank you again for your hard work and completing our sale.
