Once you get used to the remote working, I found things went well. The financial settlement and the actual divorce application were handled by different teams but the communication was excellent, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The process cost more than I'd hoped but that was down to the other party.

My experience of the family court system was awful. I didn't win my family court application because I am male, which seems to be a common story. Was taken to Family Court and was so nervous, for months i struggled as the court date approached. As soon as Sonia was allocated to me, everything just became such a breeze. I was told it is £180 for 1 hour. When I confirmed the meeting, I was told it was £250 instead as my case is more complicated. It was a normal briefing about our total assets and possible distribution. I then use the remaining 15mins to share my oversea pension. I was also told to change the 2-day trial to 1 day which my ex-solicitor had set, it will cost me ~£1000. I did it myself, paying just £190 to the court for the change. It is simple, so I am concerned the high charge. I am afraid the future charges will be high if I were to use her service although her hourly rate is reasonable.

Alex represented me in our child arrangements case regarding my two sons. It was a very tough time in my life being a working Dad with both of my sons living full time with me and being a victim of domestic violence. Alex has been very empathetic and professional throughout the case and has drawn her expertise and experience to draw the case to an efficient close. Legal support can be deemed very costly and it is always daunting to employ legal services when there is no cost certainty of how much you will eventually spend. Alex and the team were very transparent with costs and kept me aware of spend throughout the process. Due to Alex's experience she was able to close the matter with court during case management which halted me having to go through unnecessary hearings and spend money unnecessarily. Alex suggested consideration of the use of a specialist barrister to help the case, and the combination of the barrister and Alex was a superbly professional team who efficiently drew matters to a relieving and successful close. Have no doubt, you are in excellent hands with Alex.

Would highly recommend using this company for family law. There is a perception in society that once you involve solicitors in a divorce it gets ‘nasty’ but having the legal side covered regarding finances in a firm that puts your mind at ease, is fair, patient and has a set fee so you know financially where you stand in a very uncertain time in your life is priceless. My case wasn’t straight forward but Kelly Grigg was amazing to have by my side and helped to reduce the stress, very personable and professional.
