We instructed Elite on the purchase of a property. We had also intended to instruct them for the sale of a property, however we decided against this due to the poor level of service we experienced during the purchase process. The lead solicitor Yassar Ali went on leave - without letting us know - on the date we were due to exchange. This obviously created issues within the chain as it affected the date of exchange. Communication throughout the process in general was very poor. We were also threatened by another solicitor at the firm - Martin Waters - that if we did not sign a disclaimer he would not proceed with completion. We subsequently found out that Martin Waters had faced a disciplinary hearing by the Solicitors Regulation Authority in 2020 and had been previously suspended and was not allowed to have any dealings with clients’ monies. I would avoid any dealings with this firm of solicitors.
