She was awarded the Legal Service Commission (now known as the Legal Aid Agency) Public Legal Services Route Prize 2005/2006 for being the best performing student in the elective examinations at York College of Law. She qualified as a solicitor in September 2009 and has practised as a family law solicitor since then.
