Marc Etherington has experience in all areas of family law and regularly acts for those seeking a divorce, advice on the breakdown of a cohabiting relationship or assistance on matters concerning their children. He has experience in dealing with some of the most difficult issues in family law, including parental alienation, relocation/abduction, domestic abuse and complex financial issues. He has also represented families through either the surrogacy or adoption process. Marc has built a growing reputation in the profession by offering a modern forwarding thinking approach to family law focusing heavily on dispute resolution, which explores the alternative ways for families to resolve their disagreements without using the court process where possible. He is a qualified collaborative lawyer. This concept allows parties going through a separation to have a greater control over the process, have a greater focus on meeting their specific needs, lets the lawyers work more closely with each other to do what is best for the family as a whole and provides a commitment to avoid the uncertain outcome often seen in court proceedings. He is a founding member of the We Can Work It Out collaborative pod in London. Marc currently sits on the Resolution’s Parenting After Parting, London Region and Wellbeing Committees and was previously Co-Chair of the YRes National Committee, which represented the junior members of our profession. In 2023 he was elected onto the Resolution Board by fellow Resolution members meaning he ensures their voices are heard at national level. These roles give him a strong voice on future policies and training adopted by Resolution to its members, with a particular focus on matters involving parents and their children following separation, as well as supporting the junior members of the profession. Marc has worked in family law since 2009 and qualified as a specialist family lawyer in 2012. Marc has previously worked in Cambridge and London for law firms recognised by both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Marc joined Rayden Solicitors in November 2020. Marc has also been shortlisted for a number of awards including: Shortlisted for Associate of the Year at the national Family Law Awards in both 2019 and 2021, and the City Wealth Future Leaders Awards in 2020. In 2020 he was named by City Wealth as one of the top 100 professionals under the age of 40 in the industry, and in 2022, won the YRes Rising Star Award at the Resolution Awards. Marc is based in our Hampstead office.

Complex Family Law Case

I have been supported through a difficult and complex breakdown of my marriage by the excellent team at Raydens. Both Marc and Sebastian provided thoughtful, insightful and pragmatic advice, taking the time to understand my circumstances and develop bespoke solutions to some particularly challenging issues. Their professionalism and guidance have helped me navigate the process with greater clarity and confidence, and I am extremely grateful for their support. Thank you both very much.
