Solicitor at Bridge McFarland LLP

Luke Brown

Solicitor - Associate Solicitor

SRA ID: 656740

Luke was introduced to the firm through a summer placement in 2016, after which he was retained as a Legal Assistant, moving into the family department in March 2018 before starting his training contract in 2019. Luke qualified into the family department in September 2020. Luke spent 7 months away from the Firm in 2022, practising with a national family law firm before re-joining Bridge McFarland LLP in September 2022. Luke takes an interest in all areas of family law and has advised clients from a range of different backgrounds and locations. He has advised on such areas as divorce, financial matters (including formalising agreements between parties, or advising on fully contested matters), Separation Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements, Injunctions, Pre and Post Nuptial Agreements, cohabitee claims along with a range of Children Act matters, to include Child Arrangements Orders, Prohibited Steps Order, Specific Issue Orders and Applications for Grandparents. Whilst thousands of relationships breakdown each year, Luke recognises that each relationship is unique and the advice that clients require will differ depending on their needs and personal experiences. Luke does not believe in a ‘one size fits all approach’ and will get to know his clients to enable him to understand exactly where assistance is required. Luke has a personable but straight forward and honest approach, which is important during what can be an extremely stressful time. Luke is collaborative when dealing with relationship breakdowns. He will encourage amicable communication in the hope to resolve issues as swiftly as possible for the parties. Where that is not possible Luke will construct robust legal arguments to dissuade the other party’s position and confidently advise the client in proceeding with a Court application and within Court proceedings. Luke has experience representing clients in Court for Children Act matters and financial proceedings and has a network of professional contacts who can assist with a case if that is appropriate. Luke has an undergraduate law degree from Newcastle University and a post-graduate diploma from De-Montfort Law School. Luke offers fixed fee appointments, wherein he offers client’s a 30 minute telephone or video call appointment, followed by a letter of advice for the price of £216.00 inclusive of VAT. This can be useful for anyone who has a legal issue and is unsure on what next steps to take and what options are available to them.

My experience of working with Jackie and Luke has been positive; their patience and professionalism is without question and while their communication styles differed and my frustration with non face to face problem solving was sometimes obvious, they remained consistently appoachable and forgiving. Equally supportive and patient were the Administration staff, who I would like to thank.
