I deliver pragmatic and realistic advice and solutions in a cost-effective manner. I'm based in our Basildon office and am available for a free 15-minute chat over the phone. I enjoy being able to assist individuals in their time of need, being able to provide them with advice, guidance and solutions to their particular legal difficulties. I find satisfaction in achieving positive and definitive outcomes for clients. I have worked in family law for over 15 years, specialising in the following areas: Divorce including contested proceedings; Financial Remedy including matters of High Net Worth, foreign assets and proceedings with multiple Interveners; Private Law Children proceedings including applications concerning Child Arrangements to Live With and Spend Time With, internal and external permanent relocation from jurisdiction to Hague and Non-Hague Convention countries; Family Law Act proceedings representing both Applicants and Respondents in respect of applications for Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders; Trust of Land proceedings for Claimants and Defendants, including for cohabiting couples; Schedule 1 Applications; and Cohabitation, Pre and Post-nuptial and Separation agreements. Prior to joining Birkett Long, I was employed in a multi-office Legal 500 and Family Law award-winning firm as an Assistant Solicitor and Supervisor undertaking a varied workload, both private and publicly funded work, consisting of Divorce, Family Remedy, Private and Public Law children, Child Abduction, Domestic Abuse and Trust of Land proceedings. My role included being a Legal Aid Agency Supervisor, training and supervising qualified solicitors and non-qualified staff members. In 2010, I acquired a family law specialist accreditation and became a member of The Law Society’s Family Law Scheme and am now a member of The Law Society’s Family Law Advanced Scheme. I am also a member of Resolution, an organisation committed to dealing with family matters in an amicable and non-confrontational manner. I have been featured in the Legal 500 directory as a Recommended Lawyer (2018), Next Generation Lawyer (2019) and Rising Star (2020, 2021 and 2022). In 2017, I took part in the Law Society’s national Solicitors Brand Campaign which continues to run online – you can see some of the adverts here. I have been a Committee Member of the Society of Asian Lawyers since 2017, elected to Company Secretary in 2018 and subsequently to Treasurer in 2019, a post which I continue to hold. Since 2019 I have been a Committee Member for The Law Society’s Ethnic Minority Lawyers Division. In October 2021, I was elected as a Council Member at The Law Society securing one of the contested specialist seats of Ethnic Minorities. During my career, I have undertaken pro-bono work for numerous organisations including Romford Independent Legal Advice Centre, Citizens Advice Bureau, Shepherds Bush Housing Association and Latin American Women’s Rights Service. I continue to dedicate my time to the community by way of voluntary work, including Sikh Shaadi UK and raising money for charity, including Race for Life and Harefield Hospital, as well as volunteering for Nishkam Sikh Welfare and Awareness team (“SWAT”) in their Homeless Outreach project. Outside of work, I like to keep fit and enjoy the odd spin class.
