I am an associate solicitor in the Court of Protection (property and affairs) department. I assist brain-injured individuals who lack capacity to manage all or part of their own affairs. I form part of the larger team around the individual, working alongside case managers, carers, therapists and family members to advise and make decisions on matters with a financial aspect. My role is very much a supportive one, tailored to the needs and capacity of the individual. It may be that one person requires assistance investing their personal injury settlement and managing budgets, whereas another has assets abroad that need to be secured.
