Divorce & Financial Settlement
Right from the outset I found Sarah to be honest, knowledgeable and I knew I was in safe hands. As time progressed Sarah’s sense of humour helped soften the situation I was in and during crucial moments she and her secretary Helen dealt with my case in a speedy, efficient manner.
I actually thought we were never going to get to a final outcome but thankfully we got there.
Thank you ladies for all your help!

Extortionately Expensive - I would never recommend
I used this practice to get advice initially after seperating from my husband.
I was advised to arrange for my husband to produce a settlement agreement, which his solicitor did charging him £480 in total which included various amendments, advice, phone calls etc.
This practice checked the agreement on my behalf twice giving me advice about the wording and i had two phone calls and a couple of emails .... total cost £1025!!!! And they had nothing to produce, no emails or correspondence with my husbands solicitors!
I queried the charges back in October last year, and paid £500 early this year towards the account, whilst i waited for a final response.
Response.... ultimately - payment in full or referred to the debt collectors.
So be wary, when you sign an agreement to say you want to use their services you are effectively signing a blank cheque, and you have no idea until the bill is sent what the cost is going to mount upto!
I am going to refer to the financial ombudsman but hold no hope that they will rule in my favour and agree that the charges are excessive.
It seems that solicitors are one of the few services that the public are unprotected against. How many other services would you use where you had absolutely no idea how much they will cost you until the end, and have no way of disputing/comparing their charges?
Solicitors all seem to be working in the dark ages, £24 to send an email and £12 to receive one on top of what advice they are charging you for!!! Really?!
You can argue that their advice saved me money, but ultimately you have saved nothing because it then has to be spent on solicitors.
I am not disputing the advice given, as it appeared to be good, just the excessive amount this costs.
Very much left with a bad taste in my mouth, especially as they were recommended to me!

Dear Ms Stanway I am sorry that you were dissatisfied with our service and did not feel that you got value for money. I have seen on the file that you were given a detailed breakdown in response to your queries about our bill and that the work done more than justified the charges rendered. Our terms and conditions are set out clearly in our initial letter of engagement which sets out exactly how much is charged per letter/email/telephone call etc. along with the respective fee earners charge out rates and also gives costs parameters for each stage of the proceedings. I hope this clarifies matters but if you wish to discuss things further please do contact us directly and we would be happy to explain our breakdown.
