Jean is a Solicitor in the Family law team at Venters Solicitors. Originally from Australia, she was admitted as a Solicitor in the New South Wales Supreme Court in Australia in 2015. Jean advises on all aspects of a relationship breakdown, whether as former spouses or cohabitees, including divorce and children and finances, especially where that relationship involves domestic abuse. She is passionate about levelling out the imbalances within a relationship whether between former spouses/partners or parent and child and making sure that her clients’ voices are heard. Whether she is dealing with a stay-at-home parent, vulnerable client or high-profile individual, Jean is pragmatic and straightforward, whilst maintaining a holistic and compassionate approach to help her clients navigate a period which is often very difficult. Jean started her career as a paralegal at the Women’s Legal Service (SA), assisting under-privileged and highly vulnerable women in all aspects of private family law including divorce, property settlements and children matters. Whilst working in Australia she volunteered at the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement (SA) assisting vulnerable Aboriginal clients with criminal matters including drugs, assaults, robberies and sexual offences. In quest of a new challenge, Jean relocated to London in 2016 and joined an independent property acquisition consultancy based in Mayfair which solely advised Ultra High Net Worth clients. She took on the role of in-house legal and serviced an international client base, where her own multi-cultural background allowed her to foster long-term relationships with individual clients from West Africa, South Africa, the Middle East, China and Korea, as well as trust companies and family offices. After 6 years, Jean was drawn back to her roots of wanting to serve the community and joined Venters Solicitors in April 2022 as a Paralegal and non-practicing Solicitor in the Family team. Having obtained her UK qualification via the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme, Jean was able to swiftly transition from Paralegal to Solicitor at Venters Solicitors. Jean is also fluent in Korean (reading, writing and speaking).
