Martin is a successful litigator and advocate. Having been called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2002, he qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and attained Higher Rights of Audience in 2010.
He has for many years specialised in Road Traffic Law (RTL). An area of law of which most practitioners have a general or passing knowledge. Conversely RTL demands an eye for detail, and a thorough understanding of the associated raft of law, regulatory regime and procedure.
His practice covers the full range of serious and more general crime. Martin is regularly instructed in serious sexual offences, matters involving organised crime and death by driving offences. Martin conducts applications for the discharge of court orders e.g., notification requirements and sexual harm prevention orders.
Martin receives instructions in regulatory appeals against the decisions made by the DVLA, taxi licensing authorities, Security Industry Authority, and in matters of firearms licencing with regards the revocation, refusal or suspension of licences.
In recent years Martin has developed a niche practice in Dog Law. He has seen the return of many four-legged friends to their owners, whilst also avoiding the most serious criminal and other sanctions that may arise.
For a while Martin lived in Australia where he completed examinations in order to qualify as a solicitor in New South Wales (NSW). In 2016 he became a lawyer of NSW.
Most recently he completed qualifications in Garden Design.
