“Third Divorce — Wouldn’t Recommend the Hobby, But Highly Recommend the Solicitor!”
I want to thank Liz and her wider team at E J Coombs Solicitors for the way they handled my divorce. Most importantly — they didn’t drag things out to increase costs. Having been divorced twice before, I’ve dealt with solicitors who seem to specialise in long-winded emails, endless back-and-forth, and meetings that achieve absolutely nothing other than draining both sides financially. Liz was the complete opposite. She cut straight to the chase, gave clear and sensible advice, and when I occasionally went off on one, she reined me back in and explained (rightly) when something just wasn’t worth the time or money arguing over. She also doesn’t appear to believe in a strict 5pm finish. There were plenty of times she responded to me outside of normal working hours — and even while on holiday. I should say, I can’t guarantee that’s standard practice, but it’s what she did for me and it was hugely appreciated. In the end, I got pretty much everything I asked for — but equally, I wasn’t trying to be unreasonable or take the mickey. What I’m most pleased about is that it didn’t turn into a long, drawn-out contested divorce. There were a few bumps along the road, but we got through them without it becoming a costly war of attrition — which I’ve seen happen before and wanted no part of. Divorce is stressful enough without unnecessary drama, and the service I received here was spot on. Quick responses, clear advice, and no messing about. I’d recommend Liz in a heartbeat — although, as good as she is, I hope I won’t need her services again too soon! That said… hopefully our paths cross again under less dramatic circumstances — maybe over a coffee instead. John Barnes
