Yunus joined Ison Harrison in 2009 and heads up our Employment Law Department. He has a wealth of experience in all the major aspects of employment law. Yunus is a solicitor with more than 25 years’ post qualification experience specialising in Employment and Discrimination Law. Yunus is frequently approached by the media to comment upon workplace discrimination, and especially in relation to maternity discrimination. He has recently been featured on BBC Radio 5 Live, bbc.co.uk; Look North and Sky News and has also been featured in the written press. Yunus is an experienced tribunal advocate and has Higher Rights of Audience as a Solicitor Advocate. Clients appreciate the seamless service provided by Yunus from the initial meeting through to advocacy at final hearings. Yunus takes a keen interest in the business affairs of his commercial clients and is known for developing good close working relationships and going the extra mile. Away from work Yunus is heavily involved in football governance and administration where he puts his expertise in equality and discrimination to good use to help effect a positive change in society and sport. He has advised the Football Association on Race Equality matters since 2004 as a member of the Race Equality Advisory Board, latterly as Chair in April 2013, when he became the first Muslim in the FA’s 150 year history to take a seat on the full FA Council. Yunus also advises Liverpool FC on equality and diversity as a member the club’s official Supporters’ Committee. Yunus is an approved Equalities Tutor for the FA to deliver Equalities Training to Counties, Leagues and Clubs. This is a natural progression of the general equalities and diversity training that Yunus offers to employers. Yunus is also appointed by the FA to act as a specialist Chairman to its Discrimination Panel to chair discrimination cases and also sits on the FA General Appeals Panel and as Chair of the CRB Panel.
