Neil completed his degree at University College London, attending the College of Law in Chester. He joined Batchelors (a predecessor firm of Woodfines LLP) as an articled clerk (now known as a Trainee Solicitor) in 1993. He remained with the firm on qualification as a solicitor in 1995 and was promoted to partner level in 1997. Neil’s initial practice area covered a wide spectrum of commercial based advice and transactions before focussing and specialising in Corporate Commercial matters. This has provided him with a detailed understanding of the challenges that businesses face as they evolve and develop and enables him to provide business focussed solutions and advice. Throughout his career, Neil has been heavily involved with the evolution and development of Woodfines, including establishing our Milton Keynes presence in 2001 and being involved in the management of the firm and its marketing functions. In 2018, he became Managing Partner, leading the firm for six years before handing over the reins in 2025. Neil’s primary focus is leading and developing the firm’s Corporate Commercial Team, where he provides problem-solving and commercial advice for his clients. Some of whom he has acted for throughout his career. He has a reputation for providing pragmatic solutions devised from a wealth of experience, and deep feeling and understanding of business. A key skill is to make the complex simple. He proudly juggles his professional life by revelling in the role of parent to his two children, and like many parents, he spends his free time being a taxi service and supporting at sporting events around the country.

Genuine support through a business sale

Neil and the team in the run up to sale, during the DD and afterwards were great and hugely supportive. I really felt like they were on our side and not treating us just like a paying client. At the final stages of earnout Neil again gave wise counsel and honest appraisal of the situation and how to move forward. Always on hand to discuss and responsive to all types of query. Thank you.
