PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND Tanya joined the firm in 2006 as a Trainee Solicitor working within family, crime and property before qualifying in 2008. Tanya became a partner in 2014 and also heads up our Family Team. SPECIALISMS Tanya specialises in all areas of family work including divorce, financial matters and children matters. Tanya is one of the few solicitors in Darlington also trained as a collaborative practitioner. Tanya also completed training as a mediator in 2011 and became accredited in 2016. Tanya is a member of the Association of Lawyers for children and Resolution. Tanya is Children Panel Accredited which means she represents the interests of children in court proceedings. In 2022 Tanya was also invited to join the Resolution Committee for Legal Aid. AREAS OF INTEREST Tanya is particularly interested in offering clients a range of ways to think about resolving disputes. Tanya has a keen interest in financial matters on separation particularly dealing with businesses, pension and properties. Tanya also works hard to assist clients in children matters. She assists parents in disputes and grandparents. She also represents parents, grandparents and children in proceedings issued by Local Authorities. Tanya prides herself on being a friendly and approachable solicitor for people experiencing difficulties in their lives. ACCREDITATIONS Tanya is a member of Resolution which is a membership group of family practitioners. Tanya is also a specialist Alternate Dispute Resolution practitioner, having trained as a collaborative practitioner and is now an accredited mediator with the Family Mediation Council. Tanya is a member of the Children Panel and Association of Lawyers for children. Tanya is a committee member on the Resolution Legal Aid Committee.

    Professional Help with a difficult divorce

    When my original solicitor left the firm one of the Directors, Tanya Bloomfield, took charge of my case until someone else could be recruited. I found Ms Bloomfield to be confident and professional and I was satisfied with the way she progressed my case. Later Karen Young was appointed and took over my case.     I was very well supported with my divorce by Tanya Bloomfield. We worked on getting the goals clear at the beginning, avoided any acrimony and reached a fair settlement. Even when seeking a non-contentious divorce, it's still a very difficult process and well worth finding a solicitor who adopts a mediation approach rather than seeking a win-lose outcome.
