I used Montpellier legal for the sale and purchase of my properties, after they were recommended to me by a trusted financial advisor. They were fantastic and I cannot recommend any more highly. During the sale and purchase, with no warning I became seriously visually impaired. The team and Sophie worked tirelessly to get me in to my new home before my scheduled operations. This reduced the stress considerably at an already stressful time. They also assisted me throughout the process even when I was struggling to read documents. I very rarely leave reviews but this company and Sophie deserves one, I cannot fault them.

Montpellier legal came recommended by my estate agents. I appointed them for my sale and purchase. On the whole they were fine. It was a different story when it came to completion day. I was contacted at 12.45 to say my sale was completed and I had to be out of the property by 14.00. I was informed my purchase would be completed within 1-2 hours. ( no mortgage involved) At 15.30 I had heard nothing, so contacted my estate agent to ask if I could collect the keys, I was informed funds had not been received from Montpellier to my vendors solicitors. I contacted my estate agents again at 16.15, no funds received. As I had heard nothing from Montpellier I contacted them at 16.45, the person the other end sounded sheepish when I said who was calling and put me through to my contact. I was told by him he was in contact with my vendors solicitors to try and arrange a license? Whilst on this call I was told they had just heard from the vendors solicitors to say funds had been received. I got the keys at 17.15. I emailed Montpellier the next day, to complain. I had incurred an extra £450 from my removal team who were my saving grace on the day and went that extra mile! Emails went back and forth. I was told that Montpellier uses SDP. Fees for SDP are much cheaper than Chaps payments. It is recommended that for house purchase transfers Chaps payments should be used. I was charged for 3 transfers, and it was certainly the fee for Chaps payments. I was contacted by Nick Ponting COO by phone and follow up email a month ago saying he would be investigating the complaint and getting back to me,nothing received to date.

Montpellier Legal were responsible for our sale and purchase. They repeatedly came to us asking for indemnity fees for things that did not need them, requiring me to point out the reasons why the concerns were, for legal reasons, not an issue. Surely this is part of their job. When our sale completed their finance people had gone home early and we had to wait 3 days for the excess funds to be deposited into our account. One month after everything completed they contacted us saying they'd made a mistake regarding the Land Registry Fee and I owed them another 200 pounds.

Great conveyancing lawyers. Very quick response in all communication. Time to complete purchase only held up by the probate. Will definitely use on Amy further purchases. Highly recommend.
