Firstly, with regard to your concern about communication and updates during the course of your transaction: our records show that updates were provided at key stages, both by email and over the phone. We are committed to ensuring clients are kept fully informed, and we regret if there was any misunderstanding or if the frequency of our communication did not meet your expectations. Regarding the fees in question, these were clearly outlined to you at the outset of the transaction and reiterated again on a separate occasion, including in the context of another related transaction. In addition, these charges were discussed with you again during the transaction and confirmed both in writing and verbally. Importantly, we also offered you the opportunity to amend the structure of the transaction so that the additional fee would not apply. We would also like to highlight that the fee earner handling your matter worked outside of regular hours, including late into the evening the night before completion, to ensure that your transaction could proceed as required, despite receiving less than 24 hours’ notice from the other party. We hope you can appreciate the effort that went into meeting these time-sensitive demands and ensuring your objectives were met.
