Appointed Simpson Jones on a recommendation from a friend who has subsequently had the same unsatisfactory experience. Sale and purchase were split between two conveyancers in different offices, who clearly never spoke to each other except when we contacted them. The purchase (new build) was passed from one locum to another. We corrected faults in the contracts! We have now been contacted (20 months later) to say that the price included in the land registry paperwork was wrong, and the registration still not made! We paid too much stamp duty etc, on top of all the rest of the issues. Avoid like the plague.
This firm acted on my behalf in my first house purchase. I was advised to proceed with the purchase of the house. After completion, I found out the house that was valued and marketed as a standard construction, was actually a non-standard construction, which requires a non-standard mortgage and non-standard insurance. It’s not worth anywhere near what I paid for it, so i can’t remortgage it or sell it. When I raised this directly with the company, I was fobbed off with a pandering phone call shifting the blame elsewhere. This is financially devastating, and has ruined my life.
