I started this whole process about just over a year ago, and I can honestly say the only process that happened quickly was me being made to sign the contract.
I was passed around from solicitor to solicitor claiming different things, first I was told that the surveyor reports supports my claim, then I pointed out that it’s not because it suggests condensation being the cause, I was then given to someone else.
Over the next year I had numerous visits from housing surveyors from both parties all seemingly scratching their heads as to why I don’t have walls that remain dry when it rains. I took both pictures of the walls after it had been raining, and the pictures of when it was dry and sunny however connecting the dots seemed difficult. This process went on for about a year, would’ve been a few months less for not for the pandemic.
My councils (Wiltshire council) delay tactics were amusing at first however as this went on it proved to be bizarre as it was brazen. How in this day and age can a government building behave this way is beyond me. And as it turns out they were one step ahead of this law firm at every turn, to the point that towards the end they were repeating what the council were telling me. Another thing I found abit odd was that when I received notification that they were dropping my case the council magically announced that the cause of my problem wasn’t condensation at all, but in fact rainwater coming in every time it rains leaving me abit speechless.
This review isn’t an attack on this firm because they (I think) did everything they could, and did respond quickly to my queries, however this is a warning to anyone considering going down this road because once you sign the contract that’s thrown at you you cannot back out and by the end of it if you fail to turn up to court or do anything that jeopardise them getting their cut you’ll be liable for the full costs which amount to roughly £4000.
My advise is to not go down this road,
Because the sheer stress of I went through was overwhelming, and I still am waiting for repairs to be done with the struggle of getting a no liability offer of £250. The repairs I’ve been promised don’t come with a deadline or date ( more games) Keep up the pressure and if your repairs are only minor and you’re doing this out of principle then I suggest going a different way however if you’re clearly in a position where the repairs are a direct consequence of bad health then go all the way.
