How ReviewSolicitors works

We’re on your side. Our job is to help you find the right solicitor for your problem, and to be honest with you along the way. We don’t mind which firm you choose, as long as it’s the right one for you.

Our promise to you

Free for you, always

You never pay us, and law firms don’t pay us for your enquiry either.

Rankings are based on client reviews, not money

No firm can pay to rank higher.

You stay in control

Nothing is sent to a firm until you choose, and your details only go to the firms you pick.

We’ll tell you if a firm isn’t right for you

And show you firms that are.

No obligation

Asking a firm for help never commits you to instructing them.

How we’re funded

Law firms don’t pay us for enquiries. What they pay for is a premium membership, which gives them the tools to collect reviews from their clients and to manage their profile. That’s how we pay our way.

A firm pays us nothing when you send it an enquiry, so we have no reason to steer you towards one firm over another. And membership never changes where a firm ranks: rankings are based on what clients say in their reviews.

Some members also choose to take enquiries through our site. That’s why only some firms show buttons like Send case summary, Book an appointment or Request a callback. You can contact any firm directly using the details on its profile.

How rankings work

Rankings are worked out from client reviews: the ratings clients give and how recent their reviews are. When you look at a particular area of law, reviews about that area count most, and we also take into account how much of a firm’s work is in that area. Rankings are updated twice a week.

Firms can’t remove reviews they don’t like. They can respond to a review, or ask us to check one they believe breaks our rules. You can read more in our review policy.

What happens when you send an enquiry

  1. You describe your problem in your own words. If you answer a few questions, they become a short case summary, so you don’t have to repeat your story to each firm.
  2. You choose which firms receive it. Nothing is sent until you do.
  3. The firms contact you directly. How quickly varies from firm to firm: some reply within minutes, others take longer. If your matter is urgent, you can also call them.
  4. You decide whether to go ahead. There’s no obligation.

Tips before you speak to a firm

  • It’s worth speaking to more than one firm before you decide.
  • Ask about costs up front: how they charge, and what’s included.
  • Ask who will actually handle your case day to day.
  • Read recent reviews about your type of problem, not just the overall rating.
