We used Homden Property Lawyers for the purchase of our first home and completed successfully in just over two months. Kevin was our solicitor and Skye handled much of the day-to-day communication. The legal work was handled efficiently: enquiries were raised promptly, replies were reviewed, our mortgage and LISA funds were dealt with, and the transaction ultimately reached completion successfully. The main area that could be improved is communication, particularly for first-time buyers. There were times when we would have appreciated more proactive updates and clearer explanations of what was happening and what we were waiting for. At points, we found ourselves relying more heavily on the estate agent to understand the wider position in the chain. We exchanged and completed only a day apart, so there was a flurry of communication at the end. Once completion actually happened, though, the experience felt surprisingly matter-of-fact. After two months of navigating our first purchase, a little more acknowledgement of such a major milestone would have made a real difference. That said, the legal work was completed successfully and we are grateful to Kevin, Skye and the team for getting us into our first family home. For other first-time buyers, I would say Homden can get the legal job done, but if you like to understand exactly where things stand, be prepared to ask questions and request updates.
