Brian squeezed a return call between his other appointments and gave clear and constructive guidance on my situation and recommended how to proceed. He was prepared to accelerate work over the holiday period to ensure that my claim did not time out, for which I am hugely grateful. I contacted Rooney Family Law to help me with my divorce. Brian, Margaret and all the team at Rooney Family Law were extremely helpful with a really difficult divorce. I contacted Rooney Family Law and was subsequently invited to arrange an initial consultation with one of their solicitors. The solicitor called almost ten minutes late. While this is hardly an egregious delay, I believe that solicitors should hold themselves to high professional standards, and respect for a prospective client's time is a basic expectation. The delay itself would have been entirely forgivable had it been acknowledged with a simple apology or explanation. Neither was offered. Unfortunately, the consultation itself did little to improve my impression. The solicitor's approach felt impersonal and perfunctory, consisting of a handful of generic questions with seemingly little interest in understanding the particulars of my situation. I was left with the distinct impression that there was little genuine interest in me or my circumstances as a prospective client. The call concluded with an assurance that I would receive a form to complete. That form never arrived. Taken individually, these shortcomings might seem relatively minor. Collectively, however, they suggested a disappointing lack of professionalism, attentiveness and basic client care. These are qualities I would consider fundamental when choosing a firm to handle sensitive family law matters. In fairness, the firm's Managing Director subsequently contacted me personally to apologise. It appears that at least part of the issue, particularly the failure to send the form, may have arisen from a problem with their automated processes. I appreciated his acknowledgement of the situation, although it did not alter my overall impression of the initial consultation.
