Traumatised - avoid this company!
So traumatised by the experience I am only now feeling able to revisit this.
Two stars because I like the online portal, and at the very beginning, things appeared to be ok. Otherwise would be 1 star.
This is a set up where there are a few good and knowledgeable lawyers, and a lot of unqualified, inexperienced call centre staff.
I was buying without being in a chain,and buying an empty property, and yet the process took from August 2024 to end of February 2025 to complete. There was some delay around my mortgage being finalised, but otherwise all of the delays and issues were due to PPL.
The conveyancer, Riya, that assigned to my case was appalling. I could rarely get her on the phone, calling and calling and calling, leaving voicemails without any response. Others in the chain also ended up trying to help and had exactly the same issues. Response to email almost always took at least a day, sometimes almost a week, meaning without any telephone calls, time was really dragging on and on. Requests for help and guidance from PPL were mostly ignored, the right and required documentation for the process was not obtained, obtained late or at the last minute, requests for further information kept on being received from PPL, right up until the point where we even had removals vans booked and the whole chain sitting about to collapse.
Honestly this was the most stressful time and I warn everyone - avoid PPL.
I had done a lot of research before selecting PPL, who were not the cheapest option, had obtained quotes from 10 legal firms and had reviewed all online reviews before making a final decision. I had hoped that the negative reviews I had read about PPL were the minority. What a mistake I made. Please support a local conveyancing firm and do not support this “factory farm” style of conveyancing service that clearly employs people who are sitting at home being “managed” and “instructed” by someone who is qualified, but from whom you do not get a good service because of this set up.
