Traumatizing experience with family law team and complaints partner
I was their client for the relocation case which I lost and then made the fatal mistake to keep them for my financial proceedings case. They were an absolute disaster. No strategy on my case, they made fatal mistakes and caused me so much stress that I still get anxious when I think about it. After the FDR hearing I realised how poorly my case was going, as what I was told in the beginning of my case ended up being far from the truth, and I complained. They never followed their complaints policy as per their website but they only announced to me out of the blue that they will stop representing me, one week before a court hearing. I was traumatized, so shocked, as I thought that they were working on my statement in that time. They also told me that I had to file my questionnaires to the other side on the same email as I did not adhere to the court’s deadline, set in the FDR hearing. Please also note that during that hearing I paid for a partner and a trainee solicitor to be in the court room to provide support. This was a very stressful in person all day hearing! They never communicated to me the next steps nor the court order as they used to do, so I never received in writing the deadline dates and next hearing dates.
When I wrote to the complaints partner about these two incidents, along with many others, their response was that they apologise for not letting me know sooner that they stopped working on my case two weeks earlier from the date they announced to terminate the retainer. For the FDR hearing failure to communicate the order and next steps to me from the court they simply said that I was in the court room and for this reason I should have taken notes of those dates.
I do not wish to anyone to have to go through legal proceedings with a firm that has no respect nor cares about their clients, they simply wanted their legal fees and when they stopped getting them as I had an Legal services order, they decided to drop the case.
