I asked the firm to help handle a release of monies held on trust by an investment firm for the benefit of the three mature children of the family. Initially they were reasonably responsive and efficient, but unfortunately this did not last. The firm failed to carry through instructions, persistently delayed and avoided meeting me as to discuss next steps to best progress the case. Consequently the case lost momentum and became bogged down by persistent delays. I asked to meet with the solicitor, on at least three occasions but after further delays I was faced with an ultimatum: pay a substantial sum in cost plus VAT, costs not agreed or as yet incurred, as a condition of a meeting. Further, It now seems that the firm failed to pass on information and documents they obtained on my behalf, potentially causing me prejudice in the future as one of three beneficiaries and one of two trustees. The firm has failed to disclose correspondence it received on my behalf. Overall this was an extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory experience. For all I know they maybe fine handling bog standard conveyancing matter but unfortunately any matter requiring a little more application and thought is beyond their capacity. Their high handed dealings have been at best unhelpful and potentially prejudicial to my interests. I was hoping to find a good sound local firm to handle other legal matters in UK and elsewhere but regrettably it is not this one.
