The team at Gilroy Steel were helpful and friendly, and acted fairly fast in most parts of the long process of a house purchase! They acted particularly fast towards the end when the need to complete became more urgent. The cost was fair and as we expected, and didn't exceed the estimate we had been given from the start. Communication was good whenever we phoned in to the office and sent emails. Everyone we spoke to was extremely informative, and patient with our many first time buyers questions!

The main reason for the review is mainly the fact that 6 months after the completion we are still waiting for the paperwork. The completion was on 30th November 2020 and since then I’ve sent 2 emails to ask about updates and the answer was “major backlogs”. Might be some delays with the Land Registry but I’ve checked with another solicitor which informed me that Gilroy Steel actually lodged an application to register our purchase on 16th February 2021, basically over 2 months and a half after the completion date. That’s unfair as I had no option to delay the payment for their services…

We recently sold our house in Thrapston through Gilroy Steel. Our conveyancing was handled by Donna Walker, and she was outstanding throughout. One of the parties in our chain was somewhat challenging, and a less-professional approach might have led to its collapse, but Donna navigated the issues brilliantly, in doing so taking a lot of stress away from us, ultimately resulting in the successful sale of our home, for which were are immensely grateful. I would recommend this company in a heartbeat.

I have used Gilroy Steel solicitors twice - once for my house purchase and the second time for my will - and have found them to be excellent in both accounts. They are diligent and thorough, easy to work with, and offer sound and good advice. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Just overall an average service. Was disappointed about not being given the total costs or even an estimate of the costs until the day before completion. And although I admit the council was slow at answering any questions, it did take a lot of chasing on both my part and my financial advisor’s part to get chase up emails sent etc.

Had a good experience with staff definitely use them again.
I had a really bad experience with Gilroy Steel when selling and buying a house with them. The communication was ZERO so it was incredibly poor despite sending several emails to communicate. The office looking after my sale and purchase was the furthest office away from the location I live, when there was an office in the town that I live. I thought that was really badly organised. All the forms was paper based which seems very prehistoric for a 2022 law firm. I ended up cancelling Gilroy Steel and choosing different solicitors as my experience was that poor.

Regarding paper forms these do prevent cyber crime and guard against email scams, as you may had heard one of the largest property firms had its systems wiped out and/or data stolen and near no access for about a month or so not long back.
