Specific Issues is a child-law procedure used when parents or carers disagree on a particular welfare question for a child and a court is asked to decide that precise point. It sits under the Children Act 1989 as a focused tool to resolve a specific matter, rather than making broad final orders about residence or contact. A solicitor in this area drafts and issues the application, gathers evidence, coordinates with local authorities and Cafcass, and represents the client at court hearings to secure a court order on the exact question set out in the order. The process is court-driven, can involve mediation or round-table hearings, and hinges on the child’s best interests as the paramount consideration.

“Shahzad Saeed has been absolutely amazing in handling my child order case. Both himself and Dmytro Castro have looked after me for the past 17 months and made sure that all my questions and requests were answered. Nothing was an issue or unachievable. I would highly recommend them for any family matter. They have all the knowledge and experience to get things done and that's exactly what you want when dealing with the law.”
