Beth Hancock qualified as a solicitor in March 2024. Beth studied law at Nottingham Trent University and obtained her professional qualifications at the University of Law. Beth joined BH&O in April 2021 where she worked as a paralegal whilst studying towards her professional qualifications. Beth began her training contract in September 2022. During her training, Beth gained experience in a wide range of family law matters but took a particular interest in both public and private children law cases. She worked closely with the BH&O’s experienced children lawyers in order to develop her knowledge and skills. Beth now undertakes work in cases involving children and domestic abuse. In particular, Beth, advises and represents in cases involving social services. This includes in non-accidental injury work and cases being heard in the Family Drug & Alcohol Court (FDAC). Beth has also received regular instruction by the Official Solicitor on behalf of clients lacking litigation capacity. Alongside the public law cases, Beth undertakes work on a range of private children disputes, including those which feature allegations of harm, special educational needs (SEN), neurodivergence and domestic abuse. Beth’s compassion, empathy and patience is exemplary, and she prides herself on being able to build trusting relationships with clients. She takes time and care to ensure that advice is explained in a clear way so clients are empowered to make decisions for them and their children. Equally, Beth is interested in developing her practice in adoption proceedings, and is working closely with the firm’s adoption specialist, Emily Boardman.

1st class service.

Beth was very professional, extremely knowledgeable and always very helpful. She always kept us informed of what was happening, and very empathetic. I only wish we had been granted legal aid to have her continue with our matter in hand. We would highly recommend this solicitors. Reception staff also very polite and efficient.

Dear Linda and Charlotte, Thank you so much for your kind review of your experiences when working with Beth. It is regretful that the legal aid eligibility is so restricted, and we will continue to campaign for changes in this legislation. We wish you all the best for the future.
