Efficient and communicative service

Emma and her team worked with my husband and me to draw up our wills through the Will Aid scheme, which meant we donated to charity. We then decided to get LPAs. We were guided through both processes really well and the communication throughout was second to none and the processes was very efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Disorganised, mistakes made

I am disappointed with my experience using Pen chambers for my will. After specifically asking for certain changes and receiving a final draft by email, I discovered at the signing appointment that the wrong version (missing my changes) had been printed for execution. This was a basic but critical error for such an important document, and I only realised the mistake after the appointment. When I contacted the firm, they admitted the error was on their side. However, I was then told to organise my own signing and witnesses for the corrected version, rather than being offered a new in-person signing (which I had paid for). The initial amended draft also contained further mistakes, so it took two more days and emails to finally receive a correct version ready for signature. While the staff were apologetic and did eventually resolve the issues, I found the process stressful, error-prone, and not what I expected from a professional legal service. I would urge others to double-check every page before signing and to clarify exactly what support will be provided in case of errors. I have only once spoken to Emma as it appears all matters are dealt with by paralegals instead.

Thank you for your feedback. We acknowledge that the incorrect version of the draft was printed at your signing appointment and accept that this should not have occurred. While the error was administrative in nature, we recognise that in the context of a Will, even a simple versioning mistake is understandably concerning. Once identified, we acted promptly to correct the document and ensure your final Will reflected your agreed instructions. We have since reviewed our internal procedures to reinforce our version control and signing checks. We are disappointed that this incident impacted your overall experience, as we are committed to providing clear, careful and professional service in all Wills and Probate matters. Should you wish to discuss this further, we remain available to do so.
