Gillian is a specialist employment solicitor with extensive experience advising both employers and employees. She founded Patch Law in 2012 after working both in private practice and for the Manufacturers’ Organisation EEF, where she provided advice to a broad range of businesses from SMEs to blue chip companies. Clients appreciate her understanding of the wider business context which is enhanced through her broad legal background. Gillian’s experience includes commercial law, commercial dispute resolution and civil litigation. Prior to becoming a solicitor, Gillian ran a busy commercial department within a university, with responsibility for employed staff, freelancers and volunteers. She understands, from direct experience, the employer’s perspective and the need to focus on commercial solutions. Gillian is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for her clients, and for making the process as comfortable as possible. Outside of work she unwinds by singing with a choir and going for walks with her fun-loving labradoodle.

    Extremely knowledgeable & good at complex negotiations

    I am Bristol based, so I hired PatchLaw as they are local to me. I used them twice; once when I was an employee going through a grievance claim against my employer and again when I was an employer and had a contractual issue with an ex-employee in my new company. I found both Gillian & Sonia to be extremely knowledgeable and their advice & experience in these difficult negotiations was invaluable. Additionally, they helped me strengthen my employee contracts, so that if I sell my company, these contracts pass due-diligence and they helped me clawback costs from the ex-employee, which covered their fees. I am extremely grateful for their help and support, and I can now focus on growing my business and not have to worry about ex-employee issues. Thanks again! Phil.

    Friendly Srrvice

    Although we didn’t get the outcome we hope for, I was given expert and positive advice. Employment law is very tied up in a pretty bow on the side of the employer from my experience. Patch Law were very clear and transparent all the way through my journey. I would highly recommend Patch Law if you have a grievance with your current or previous employer.
