I took my Law Degree at Cambridge University and thereafter I went to Guildford Law School. I then trained in London with Simmons & Simmons. They wanted me to stay, but I wanted to live and work in the beautiful English countryside. I moved back up to North Buckinghamshire in 1975 and joined a local firm in Olney. I became a Partner within a few months, and then became Senior Partner from 1987 to 2002. Thereafter, I was Managing Partner at the same firm from 2002 until my retirement from the Partnership, in 2014. Throughout my 42 years in practice, I have represented major PLC and other Developers, notably Wilson Connolly PLC (Wilcon Homes), before they were taken over by Taylor Woodrow. I have bought major residential and commercial building sites for my developer clients all over England throughout my career. I have dealt with all aspects of development land, acquisitions, options, promotion agreements, consortiums, joint ventures and the like, including planning, planning appeals and infrastructure work. I come from a family of Builders and I also run my own Property & Development Company. I therefore, have a practical and commercial understanding of the issues involved, as well as my legal experience. I can usually make a significant difference to the values achieved by Landowners who have potential development land, by my work. Brent is pictured with George, his Golden Doodle, who can often be found keeping us company in the office, and generally brightening up our day.

Highly recommend as commercial property solicitors

I’ve had a brilliant experience using Rushford and McCarville for my commercial property transactions. James McCarville is not only highly professional but also incredibly approachable and easy to get hold of. He has a practical, cost-effective approach that has made complex processes feel straightforward. I truly appreciate his responsiveness and the peace of mind he provides during each transaction. Highly recommended!
